Whiteford and Ronald Arnatt designed the organ. Donald Gillette and Craig Doyle voiced it in 1965, and again in 1974 and 1975 after the renovation of the Cathedral. In 1976 Edward Sieckman added a Zymbelstern. The whole instrument, 65 ranks, stands in the Cathedral tribune, with a solo reed (Trompette de Reredos) speaking through the crestwork of the reredos in the Cathedral apse. The stops bearing asterisks were incorporated from the 1927 E.M. Skinner organ which stood divided in the Cathedral transepts. In 1988 a new 4 manual console was installed. Designed by William Partridge, Organist, and Michael Quimby, Curator of the organ, the new console contains a Solid State Logic combination action with a 16-level memory system and preparations for a 20-rank Great, Swell and Pedal, divisions to be installed at a future date in the 1888 hand-carved Roosevelt cases now mounted on the transept walls. ------------------------------
