Jay Callender * EMC.Ver #2.10P ] -- I play an Aeolian-Skinner with a divided or double Great. This is A-S Opus 1175 at St. Luke's United Methodist Church in Kilgore, Texas, right up the street from the large and rather well-known A-S at First Presbyterian. Opus 1175 is a very comprehensive two-manual instrument of 39 ranks and was designed by the late Roy Perry and opened in 1952. The "Great" is exposed in the chancel and is essentially the principal chorus - the "Enclosed Great" is chambered to the left of the chancel and is more or less a small Choir division. The Enclosed Great has its own intra- and inter-divisional manual couplers but there is only one Gt.-Ped. coupler which couples down anything drawn on the Great or Enclosed Great. This is a marvelous instrument - a pure joy to do choral accompaniment on. The room is fairly small and is very dead, but Mr. Perry did wonders in the finishing. The organ is in immaculate condition owing to the careful attention given it by Mr. Perry, by Jimmy Culp during his years at St. Luke's, by the Williams company in New Orleans, and presently by the Ross King Company. Please feel free to drop by if you're ever in the Longview-Kilgore area and play the 'other' Kilgore A-S. ***********************************************************************
